The Old Home Place

This was painted on location at Plum Bottom Pottery, near Egg Harbor, Wisconson, during the 2011 Door County Plein Air Festival. When I began this piece, I debated about painting more sky and less foreground or the other way around. The sky wasn't too interesting when I started so decided on less sky and more foreground. About halfway through the painting, some clouds formed and the light and the sky were beautiful! I caught as much as I could in the space I had left for the sky.
