This was painted on location along the shore of Lake Michigan near Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. I painted this early in the morning two days after my father passed away...the cold gray windy day echoed my emotions that morning. The clouds began to break as I worked. The sky became more and more beautiful...it felt like a sign of hope as the new day was dawning...hope and the assurance that life goes on and everything was going to be okay.
